Restore factory default configuration for a Fortigate 60D

    Introduction:

    Having trouble with your router and can't figure out what's causing the issue? Maybe you lost your password, or you want to fortify the security settings from scratch? Either way, restoring the equipment to default factory settings is a good catchall troubleshooting move! Any personalized configurations will be lost, so it's an effective way to wipe the slate clean and customize the internal network your office needs.

    Prerequisites:

    In order to perform the following steps, you must be in possession of a FortiGate 60D with an active subscriptions to Fortinet's signature database.

    Step 1

    Connect to the FortiGate 60D using a console cable.

    Step 2

    Open Terminal.

    Step 3

    Plug the FortiGate 60D to the power adapter and wait for the device to boot up.

    Step 4

    Within 20 seconds of the device booting up, press and hold the RESET button. Once you see System is resetting to factory default..., you can release the button.

    Step 5

    The default login username is admin and the default password is blank.
